Our transitional pastor, Dr. David Cagle, joined us in July 2025. Born and raised in Knoxville, Tennessee, and nurtured by loving parents who taught him Christian values and ethics by the way they lived their lives. Grace, mercy, forgiveness, compassion, humility, faith, hope, and steadfast love—these are words that describe his parents.
David is a graduate of the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, as are his parents, siblings, and most of his cousins, so he is a mildly obnoxious Tennessee football, basketball, and baseball fan. At the age of 32 he began his studies at Columbia Seminary in Decatur, Georgia and also met his wife. As newlyweds, they moved to Wadmalaw Island, South Carolina, near Charleston, where he served as a solo pastor of Rockville Presbyterian Church for over 5 years. It was during this time that their daughter and son were born. His next call was to Brownson Memorial Presbyterian Church in Southern Pines, North Carolina, where he served as an associate pastor for 4 ½ years. His last installed pastorate was in Kingsport, Tennessee, where he served as Head of staff for 12 years. After 22 years of installed ministry, a sense of call to interim or transitional ministry began to grow. Over the last 8 years, he has led four churches through the transitional process, serving Swift Creek Presbyterian in Mosely, Virginia (west of Richmond), First Presbyterian Church in Virginia Beach, Virginia, Guilford Park Presbyterian in Greensboro, North Carolina, and Media Presbyterian Church in Media, Pennsylvania. We are excited and proud to have Pastor Cagle serve First Presbyterian Church in Rockingham, North Carolina.
David has a wife, one son, and one daughter.
